Instead of overwhelming you with even more information about YASL, we will instead take this time to just introduce ourselves.
This year the main officers are myself, Halley Todd, and Shauna Masura. I am very interested in becoming a Teen Services librarian. I just really love that age group because of the snarkiness, the anticipation about starting college and becoming a "grown up," and their energy. Teens are really into and passionate about their interests at that age, and I believe a great librarian can help them discover and direct that energy into creating something productive, be it for the community, school, or just personal use.
Currently, I am really into libraries as "Maker-Spaces." I am also very interested in embedded librarianship, and advocacy of libraries by the librarians. As for my personal life, I work as a Student Supervisor and Reference Assistant at the Kresge Business Administration Library at the Ross Business School of UM. I also just started a new position as an intern at Salem-South Lyon District Library. I am all about YA fiction, and graphic novels. If you ever need a recommendation for either, please do not hesitate to ask me. It will make my day :) My e-mail inbox is always open ([email protected]). Oh, I guess you can also talk to me in person, too.
Looking forward to our first meeting!
